Introduction to Rolling Bearings

  • 2022/6/28 11:40:05

Rolling bearings are generally composed of rings (inner and outer rings), rolling elements (balls or rollers) and cages. That is, several rolling elements are arranged between the inner ring and the outer ring, and the rolling elements are kept at a certain distance from each other by the cage, and the rolling elements are not in contact with each other, so as to realize the structure of smooth rolling motion.

1.Ferrules (inner and outer rings) or washers

The surface on which the rolling elements roll is called the "raceway surface", and this contact surface carries all the loads of the bearing.

Usually the inner ring is fitted with the shaft, while the outer ring is fitted with the bearing housing.

In thrust bearings, we generally call the ferrule as "washer", the inner ring as "shaft washer", and the outer ring as "seat ring".

2.Rolling elements

The rolling elements are divided into two categories: balls and rollers. According to the different shapes of the rollers, it is generally divided into: cylindrical rollers, needle rollers, tapered rollers and spherical rollers. Geometrically, the contact between the rolling elements and the raceway surfaces of the inner ring and the outer ring is point contact if the rolling element is a ball, and line contact if the rolling element is a roller. Theoretically, the rolling elements revolve while rolling along the raceway surface.

3.Cages

The cage does not directly bear the load, it is only used to keep the rolling elements in the correct position with a certain distance, and at the same time prevent the rolling elements from falling off when the bearing is installed. According to the different production methods, the cages are classified into stamping, lathe and integrated cages.

4.Classification by rolling bearing structure type

Bearings are divided into the following types according to the load direction or nominal contact angle they can bear(1)Radial bearing: mainly used for rolling bearing bearing radial load, its nominal contact angle is from 0° to 45°. According to the different nominal contact angles, they are divided into: radial contact bearings: radial bearings with a nominal contact angle of 0°; radial angular contact bearings: radial bearings with a nominal contact angle greater than 0° to 45°.(2)Thrust bearing: mainly used for rolling bearing bearing axial load, its nominal contact angle is greater than 45° to 90°. According to the different nominal contact angles, they are divided into: axial contact bearings: thrust bearings with a nominal contact angle of 90°; thrust angular contact bearings: thrust bearings with a nominal contact angle greater than 45° but less than 90°.
Bearings can be divided into the following categories according to whether they can be aligning when they are working.(1)Self-aligning bearing: the raceway is spherical, which can adapt to the angular deviation and angular motion between the axis lines of the two raceways.(2)Non-aligning bearing (rigid bearing): A bearing that can resist the angular deviation of the axis line between the raceways.
Bearings are divided into the following types according to the number of rows of rolling elements(1)Single row bearing: a bearing with one row of rolling elements.(2)Double row bearing: a bearing with two rows of rolling elements.(3)Multi-row bearings: Bearings with more than two rows of rolling elements, such as three-row and four-row bearings.
Bearings are divided into the following categories according to whether their components can be separated.(1)Separable Bearings: Bearings with separable parts.(2)Non-separable bearings: Bearings in which the rings cannot be freely separated after the bearing is finally assembled.
Crossed roller bearings are new structural bearings that have replaced both centripetal force and thrust parts in recent years. Only one set of crossed roller bearings is needed to replace the necessary thrust roller bearings and radial roller bearings. This matching design concept is widely accepted.
Our company has developed and produced various series of crossed roller bearings, as follows:
1. According to the structure of inner and outer rings, crossed roller bearings can be divided into: integral inner ring, split outer ring type, integral outer ring, split inner ring type and integral type of inner and outer rings.
2.Divided by rolling elements structure:

(1)Cylindrical roller bearing: The rolling elements of the crossed roller bearing are cylindrical rollers, which are vertically arranged at 90 degrees in the V-shaped raceway, and the rollers are separated by spacers. This structure can bear the loads of various aspects such as axial load, radial load and overturning load.

Applicable to: joint parts or rotating parts of industrial robots, rotary table of machining center, rotary part of manipulator, precision rotary table, medical equipment, measuring instruments and other occasions.

(2)Tapered roller bearing: Crossed tapered roller bearing is a variant of crossed cylindrical roller bearing. The tapered rollers are arranged laterally, each roller is perpendicular to the adjacent rollers, and the intersection of the extension line of the rolling element generatrix should be located at the rotation of the bearing. in line.

Can be widely used in: high-speed vertical lathes, high-precision workbenches, vertical boring machines, grinding machine spindles, etc.
